Rihanna’s tattoo artist & CU nanoengineer working on tattoo ink that can turn on and off

Aug 29, 2023, 11:50 AM

I’m sure many people out there have tattoo’s they wish could disappear altogether… but what about a tattoo that you could turn on and off with the flick of a switch?   Well a nanoengineer here in Colorado at CU Boulder is actually teaming up with the tattoo artist who does the billionaire herself Rihanna’s tattoos to work on an ink that can do just that!

CU Boulder’s Carson Bruns teamed up with tattoo artist Bang Bang, who has tattooed many big stars such as Rihanna, Lebran James, and Miley Cyrus, on their first product called Magic Ink, and will release it next year to a few select artists.  The tattoo ink reacts to light and will turn on under ultraviolet light and turn off to daylight.

Check out The Denver Post’s story on what other ideas they have including smart tattoos that may have health benefits!
