In an effort to prevent wild parties thrown by renters in Airbnbs, the company is offering hosts free decibel monitors. If noise in the rental exceeds a certain decibel, the renter will be notified via text message. The device does not record or transmit anything, so there is no possibility of privacy violation.  Renters who choose to utilize the device will have to notify renters before contracts are signed. Airbnb has  put forth major efforts to cut down on partying in their residences following a party thrown in an Airbnb in San Francisco that resulted in the deaths of five people.
