I have made fun of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) many times over the years, so I felt like I owed them this article about something cool they’re doing…
As a partial government shutdown leaves TSA workers without pay, PETA has started giving away suitcases filled with vegan groceries at major U.S. airports including Denver International Airport, to help affected employees.
Starting at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and continuing to cities including Denver, Seattle, Fort Lauderdale, and Las Vegas, the animal rights organization is distributing nonperishable items like vegan jerky, dairy-free mac and cheese, and bean chili.
The effort comes after airports requested donations for TSA workers, who have missed multiple paychecks since the shutdown began on February 13th under the Department of Homeland Security.
