Party City returns to Colorado, less than a year and a half after closing all locations

Apr 22, 2026, 4:00 PM

Sure, you can order balloons and tablecloths on Amazon, but there is something better about being able to make a run to a store and pick them out for yourself. Now, we’ll once again be able to do that in Colorado.

Party City is back in Colorado — not with a standalone store, but inside a Staples.

The once-bankrupt party supply chain has returned to retail shelves through a partnership with office supply giant Staples, the two companies announced Tuesday. Party City-branded shops are now open in more than 700 Staples locations nationwide, including a Fort Collins store at 4333 Corbett Drive, with plans to expand to additional locations by the end of 2026.

The comeback comes roughly 16 months after Party City announced in December 2024 that it was going out of business and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in two years, shuttering all of its approximately 700 stores.

The in-store experience features helium-inflated latex and foil balloons available for pickup, along with party decor, tableware, gift bags, costume accessories and favors, with prices starting at $1.49. Customers can also create personalized invitations, banners, yard signs and posters through Staples’ existing print services.

Staples operates more than 900 stores throughout North America and expects to bring Party City to additional locations later this year.

The Staples partnership rolls out just in time for graduation season. Americans spent $6.8 billion on graduation celebrations last year, according to the National Retail Federation.
