Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets opened the playoffs with a Game 1 win Saturday afternoon at Ball Arena.
Denver got off to a slow start, trailing by 10 after the first quarter. But in the second, Jamal Murray took over, dropping 15 points in the quarter and setting the tone for the comeback. Murray finished with 30 points, going 10-of-16 from the free-throw line.
As expected, things got physical between these two teams. There were multiple hard fouls and even a technical foul assessed to head coach David Adelman in the first half.
The game stayed tight throughout, featuring six ties and eight lead changes, but Denver pulled away late to secure the win.
Murray led all scorers with 30 points, adding five rebounds and seven assists, while Jokić recorded yet another triple-double with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. All five Nuggets starters finished in double figures, including Christian Braun (12), Cam Johnson (12), and Aaron Gordon (17).
Game 2 tips off Monday night at Ball Arena and will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
