Nuggets Coach Malone’s father, Brendan Malone, has passed away at 81 years old

Our thoughts are with the Denver Nuggets Head Coach Michael Malone and his family as his father, also a revered head coach, Brendan Malone has passed away at 81 years old.

Brendan Malone was a coach in the NBA for 30 years for several teams including the NY Knicks, Detroit Pistons , Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic including one year as head coach for the Raptors.

He also served as an assistant coach for his son Mike Malone when he was the head coach of the Sacramento Kings.

The Nuggets announced on their Twitter/X page that Coach Malone will not be with the team for tonights pre-season game against Phoenix and that Assistant Coach David Adelman will serve as acting head coach.
