Nix Takes Over Late as Broncos Extend Win Streak to Six

Nov 2, 2025, 4:40 PM | Updated: 4:43 pm

It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. The Denver Broncos extended their win streak to six games after grinding out an 18–15 victory over the Houston Texans this afternoon at NRG Stadium.

The Broncos’ offense struggled early to move the ball, but the defense once again set the tone, holding Houston to just three points in the opening quarter. Both teams missed early field goals, keeping the game tight through much of the first half.

A scary moment came in the second quarter when Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was tackled hard on a run up the middle by Kris Abrams-Draine, his head bouncing off the turf. Stroud left the game with a concussion and did not return, as backup Davis Mills took over for the remainder.

Denver finally broke through in the second quarter when Bo Nix hit Courtland Sutton for a 30-yard touchdown strike. Mills responded by leading two scoring drives that ended in field goals, sending the game to halftime with the Broncos trailing 12–7.

In the fourth quarter, Nix connected with last week’s NFL Rookie of the Week, RJ Harvey, on a 27-yard touchdown. The Broncos converted the two-point try to tie the game at 15–15 with just over ten minutes to play.

With the game on the line and :50 seconds left, Nix once again took over — using his legs to move Denver into field goal range with runs of 25 and 9 yards. That set up Will Lutz’s 34-yard game-winning kick, sealing another dramatic victory for the Broncos and pushing their win streak to six straight.

The Broncos now head home on a short week to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football, looking to take a commanding lead in the AFC West.
