National Donut Day is June 5th – Here are the deals around Colorado

National Donut Day lands Friday, June 5, and donut shops across Colorado are giving away the goods. The holiday dates back to 1938, when it was created in Chicago to honor the Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies” — women who baked and delivered donuts to soldiers on the front lines during World War I. These days it’s less about history and more about the freebies, and Colorado has plenty.

Colorado-rooted deals:

  • LaMar’s Donuts — Free Ray’s Original Glazed Donut, no purchase necessary. Ten Colorado locations: Aurora, Denver (2), Englewood, Fort Collins (2), Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Louisville and Westminster.
  • Voodoo Doughnut — Fan Club members get a free donut of their choice. First 100 customers at each location get a free pink box tote bag with any purchase. Three Colorado shops in Denver (2) and Boulder.
  • The Salty — 50% off any coffee with the purchase of a donut, 6:30 a.m. to noon. One location: 3985 Tennyson St., Denver.

National chains with Colorado locations:

  • Krispy Kreme — One free donut of your choice, no purchase necessary, limit one per guest. Plus a $2 Original Glazed dozen when you buy any dozen at full price. Four Colorado locations: Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Lone Tree and Thornton.
  • Dunkin’ — Free donut with any beverage purchase, limit one per guest. 53 locations across Colorado.
  • Shipley Do-Nuts — Free glazed donut with any purchase — not just Friday, but every Friday in June. Three Colorado locations: Colorado Springs (2) and Fountain.
  • 7-Eleven — 50-cent glazed donuts for 7Rewards members, no limit on quantity. Plus $1 mini donut packs through June 23.
  • Duck Donuts — Free classic donut in-shop, no purchase necessary.

Don’t sleep on your neighborhood shop either. Plenty of local bakeries across Denver and the Front Range run their own one-day specials — check their social pages Friday morning before you head out.
