Mickey Guyton Wins Over Audience at the 2021 Grammy Awards

WOW! Where do we begin? Did you watch the 63rd annual Grammy Awards that took place last night? There are so many highlights to get into, so let’s start with this first, Mickey Guyton’s powerful production of “Black Like Me!” This marks Country Music’s first black female solo artist be nominated for a Grammy in any country category, and even though she didn’t win, she won over the hearts of every man, woman and child watching her perform that beautiful song. By the way, you will be seeing a lot more of Mickey, as she is set to host alongside Keith Urban at next month’s ACMs.

Miranda Lambert Was the Big Winner

After Guyton’s performance, she introduced last night’s “Best Country Album” winner, Miranda Lambert. Miranda dazzled everyone by singing, “Bluebird” from that Grammy winning album, “Wildcard.” When that song ended, the country superstar probably had my favorite and most sincere introduction of the night. She introduced Maren Morris by saying, they have been “Texas gal-pals since my early honky tonk days.”

Maren Morris Checks One Off

It was a huge night for Maren Morris, as the Bones singer had her dreams come true, when she collaborated with John Mayer, one of her all-time bucket-list artists. You see, way back in the Covid-less year of 2019, Morris said, “If I were outside of the country genre, I would love to do something down the line with artists like Post Malone, H.E.R., and John Mayer would be really fun…I love songwriters.”
