More People Left Colorado Than Moved in in 2022

Jan 3, 2023, 4:08 PM

Maybe Colorado has finally gotten too expensive for people? For as long as I can remember Colorado usually makes the top ten lists that show the states people are moving to the most. Not only did Colorado miss the top ten in 2022, more people left our state than moved in!

United Van Lines put out their annual study that looked at how many Americans moved into . . . and out of . . . all 50 states, and for the first time since they first started tracking it, more people left than moved into Colorado.

They saw total inbound moves to Colorado at 48.4% with total outbound moves at 51.6%.

Vermont saw the highest percentage of INBOUND migration for the second straight year. The rest of the Top 10 are: Oregon . . . Rhode Island . . . South Carolina . . . Delaware . . . North Carolina . . . Washington, D.C., which counted as a state . . . South Dakota . . . New Mexico . . . and Alabama.

The most popular state to move OUT of was . . . New Jersey for the fifth year in a row. Illinois was second, followed by New York . . . Michigan . . . Wyoming . . . Pennsylvania . . . Massachusetts . . . Nebraska . . . Louisiana . . . and California.
