LOOK – Chris Janson was in Colorado last week and brought home a massive bull elk to prove it

Chris Janson doesn’t just sing about country living, he actually lives it. And last week, he was living it in Colorado.
The “Buy Me a Boat” singer posted on Instagram and Facebook Monday that he’d spent the week elk hunting in Colorado before heading back out on tour. “This past week in Colorado was full of ups and downs,” Janson wrote alongside a photo of himself with a massive bull elk. “It all came together on my last morning, before heading back on tour. There is nothing like Elk hunting. Incredibly grateful for the opportunity to hunt such animals.” The post showed Janson grinning next to the bull, and based on the rack in the photo, “huge” might be underselling it.
This isn’t a one-time thing for Janson. The Nashville star has been coming to Colorado every September for elk season for years, often hunting on sprawling private ranches in elk country with his son Jesse by his side. Jesse brings his own bugle tube and has been tagging along since he was little. Janson’s schedule during elk season is borderline insane, he’ll hunt in the morning, fish with the family in the afternoon, fly out for a show in another state, then fly back to Colorado and be back in the elk woods before dawn. He’s an avid bowhunter who’s appeared on the Nock On Archery Podcast and has partnered with Mirr Ranch Group for guided archery elk hunts across 250,000-plus acres in Colorado. The guy even has a song called “Hardest Hunting Season” in his live setlist. He means it.
Janson didn’t get much time to celebrate the bull, he’s playing Warner Vineyards in Paw Paw, Michigan, on Friday and Running Aces Casino in Columbus, Minnesota, on Saturday before hitting the Long Center in Austin on Oct. 1. He’s got 18 shows left on his 2026 schedule, including a newly announced Ryman Auditorium date in Nashville on Jan. 22. No Denver-area dates on the books right now, but given how much time he spends in Colorado every fall, it’s only a matter of time.
