Lacking Air Conditioning, 12 Denver Public Schools will be ending class early today

Aug 22, 2023, 11:37 AM

Despite a voter approved bond in 2020 to install air conditioning in 55 schools across Denver Public Schools, years later 37 schools still kicked off the school year needing air conditioning, and with record heat this week for late August, that is causing 12 DPS schools to end class early today.

Those schools are:

  • Stedman Elementary @ 1p
  • Polaris Elementary @ & Bryant Webster Dual Language School @ 12:30p
  • Godsman & Cowell Elementary @ 12p
  • Goldrick & McMeen Elementary @ 11:40a

And Steele Elementary, Columbine Elementary, Cory Elementary, Carson Elementary, University Park Elementary, Skinner Middle School & Robert F Smith STEAM High School with additional schools potentially being added.
