Not only was he one of the best players on the field, former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons was one of the best off the field also. So it makes sense that many Broncos’ fans were really hoping he’d sign with Denver again after struggling to find a team deep into training camp.
Bad news… It ain’t happening!
The longtime Denver safety on Thursday signed a one-year, $8 million deal with Atlanta, according to his agency, Athletes First.
He spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Broncos, made a pair of Pro Bowls and four times was named second-team All-Pro. The Broncos released him in March and in the process saved $14.5 million against their salary cap.
Simmons and the Falcons are set to visit Empower Field on Nov. 17.
