Joe Sakic to remain the Colorado Avalanche GM

With just 17 days until the kick off of the Colorado Avalanche season, we now know it will be Joe Sakic who will be holding the reigns as General Manager.

Sakic had taken over the role in June when Chris MacFarland left the Avalanche to join the Nashville Predators as GM, and following a strong season which unfortunately ended when they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights, Sakic hopes to bring the Avalanche to another Stanley Cup.

He had previously served as GM from 2014-2022 and has a long storied career with the franchise playing the entirety of his 21 year career with the Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques) including two Stanley Cup wins as a player and one as the GM.  He was named to 13 NHL All-Star games and earned several other awards including MVP and the Hart Memorial Trophy and Lester B Pearson Award.
