Hero Colorado three-year-old saves great-grandma after her dangerous fall

Mar 14, 2025, 3:34 PM | Updated: 8:24 pm

Last week, a three-year-old boy in Strasburg, Colorado, became a hero when he braved the dark to help his great-grandmother after she fell outside her house.

Bridger Peabody was staying with his “GiGi” Sharon Lewis while his family was at the hospital with his older sister, and as they approached the house, Lewis tripped, hitting her head on the corner of a cement step. With no one around to help, she assured Bridger she was going to be alright and that she needed him to get her phone from the car.

Despite being scared of the dark, the little boy mustered the courage to run to the car. Surveillance footage of the incident shows him saying to himself, “Don’t be afraid” before celebrating, “Yay! I did it!” when he successfully retrieved the phone. He quickly returned to his GiGi so she could call for help. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors treated her for a concussion and closed the head wound with 22 staples.

Lewis has since recovered and is calling Bridger her hero. His mother, Stephanie Peabody, says she was overwhelmed with pride when she learned what he’d done. Though he may not fully understand what being a hero means, his bravery helped make sure his great-grandmother received the care she needed.
