If you’ve driven a little north of Denver on I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins over the last year or so, you’ve been able to use the new third lane for free…as they say though, all good things must come to an end!
The Northern Colorado Express Lanes on that 14-mile stretch of I-25 will start charging you a fee in the next couple of months. The tolls will start on April 7, from mile markers 250 to 269, in both the northbound and southbound lanes.
Prices vary based on current traffic volume and will be displayed on the overhead signs. Prices will also differ depending on whether you pay by license plate toll or an ExpressToll account with a transponder. If you have an ExpressToll HOV transponder, you will be able to use the express lanes free of charge with three or more people in the vehicle.
