  1. Cave of the Winds (Colorado Springs)
Cool cave, sure… but the full “experience” can turn into a greatest-hits album of add-ons, ticket tiers, and gift shop swag.
  2. 16th Street (Denver)
People show up expecting “Denver’s Times Square” and leave with a chain-restaurant receipt and a story about dodging someone’s clipboard pitch.

  3. The “Rocky Mountain Oysters” Tourist Dare
It’s always presented like a rite of passage. It’s not. It’s a bar bet with a menu description and a price that screams “we know you’re from out of town.

  4. Garden of the Gods Parking-Lot Madness (Colorado Springs)
The rocks are stunning. The traffic, tour buses, and “where do I put my car?” energy can make it feel like you’re sightseeing inside a Costco lot.

  5. Peak-season I-70 ‘Scenic Stop’ Shopping Ambush
You pulled over for the view or the bathroom. Next thing you know you’re in a log-cabin store paying premium prices for fudge, a ‘Colorado’ hoodie, and a magnet shaped like a moose.
