New up-close pictures of Denver airport’s ‘Blucifer’ make him seem less creepy than we thought

On Tuesday (Feb. 11) Denver International Airport’s (DIA) infamous blue horse, “Blucifer” turned 17. In some new pictures to celebrate, it seems like he might not be as creepy as I once thought…

The big blue horse with glowing red eyes not only looks creepy in most pictures and from the road as you enter or leave DIA, but it actually killed its creator too. One of the sections of “Blucifer” came loose and pinned him against a steel support beam, severing an artery in his leg.

However, to celebrate the statues 17th birthday this week, Denver Public Art posted some photos on social media, one of them being a close-up of “Blucifer’s” face, and for the first time in my life I used the word “cute” to describe this thing.
