Elitch Gardens opens, for what could be one of it’s last seasons downtown, on April 20

Even though Denver is expected to see up to a half a foot of snow this weekend, the time has come to open the city’s premier amusement park.

Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park is set to open for it’s 134th season tomorrow (Apr. 20).

This weekend is for season pass holders-only, which can still be purchased here. The park opens to the general public next weekend (Apr. 27), and the waterpark portion, Island Kingdom Water Park, is slated to open Memorial Day weekend.

Could this be one of the final seasons in downtown Denver? Probably! The park’s co-owner, Revesco Properties, has been working for years on a project to turn the land where the park sits into a new urban neighborhood. There’s no official word on when or where the park will move yet, though.
