Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s ties to country music | Music City Minute

May 13, 2024, 11:55 AM | Updated: 4:01 pm

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed that his love of country music runs deep. He grew up listening to the greats like Hank Sr. and Hank Jr., Johnny Paycheck and Merle Haggard. Interestingly, Dwayne actually lived in Nashville as a teenager. Spending his formative years in Music City had a profound effect on him. It inspired him to dream big and helped fuel his motivation to become the superstar we know today. The Rock also revealed that his first guitar was given to him by Willie Nelson. The pair initially met by chance at a venue in Texas. As luck would have it, the venue was hosting a wrestling match in which Dwayne was a participant and Willie just happened to be filming a music video there as well. The two icons ended up forming a friendship that has lasted decades.
