DUI Checkpoints to increase in Colorado over next 2 weeks

Feb 14, 2025, 8:36 AM | Updated: 8:58 am

As we move into Presidents Day weekend, Colorado will see increased DUI checkpoints and officer saturation to target drunken driving.

The Colorado Department of Transportation will be working with Colorado State Patrol to increase sobriety checkpoints as well as the number of officers in areas with high drunk driving numbers.

According to CDOT, 1 out of every 3 traffic deaths in Colorado involved an impaired driver and last year 473 people were arrested for drinking and driving over the Presidents Day holiday weekend.

If you plan on heading out this weekend and drinking, plan ahead with ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft, public transportation like Light Rail, taxi’s or having a designated driver
