You can bet on pretty much anything as you watch the Big Game this weekend. Bets on things that don’t really concern the game itself are called prop bets, but I learned today that many of the more popular prop bets are still illegal in Colorado.
The Colorado Department of Revenue states that 50/50 bets are a no-no. The gaming rules read that bets based on chance, like betting heads or tails during the coin flip, are prohibited.
Other popular Big Game bets not allowed in Colorado include the color of the Gatorade bath, the national anthem (such as how long it’ll be) and halftime show (like what outfit the artist will wear).
Arizona, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia also don’t accept bets on the coin flip, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
