For months now, we’ve known almost everything about a new professional women’s soccer team that’ll call Denver home starting in 2026, except for the team’s name… That finally changed today!
The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team will be called Denver Summit FC, the team announced Tuesday. (July 22).
The name was selected after receiving the most first-place votes in the “Name The Club” fan vote, which generated over 15,000 votes and suggestions.
There was one issue, and that was Colorado’s professional ultimate frisbee team already had that name, but they announced they will “pass the torch” and relinquish its name. The frisbee team will now host a fan-led naming contest with the new name to be announced this fall. Fans can vote at TheColoradoSummit.com.
The new squad’s kits will feature the colors red, yellow, and green with mountains and a sunset.
Fans can come out to celebrate the new name at a launch party at McGregor Square on Saturday. The event begins at 2 p.m. Attendees will be able to buy merchandise, listen to music, grab food and drinks, and hear from the team’s owners. Fans wishing to attend the free launch party should register here; however, the club said registration does not guarantee entry if the event hits capacity.
