When Hanneck Dry Cleaners opened in Denver, there were no TVs, no NFL football and no bubblegum. Sadly, after 101 years, the business has closed for good.
The business at 606 East Sixth Avenue opened in 1923 and saw its longtime owners, the Von Feldt family, purchase the business in the 1950s.
“After 101 years in business, we will be closing June 29,” a letter taped on Hanneck’s window reads. “Thank you for your patronage! Clothes remaining will be donated. The Von Feldt Family.”
Although no reason for closing was given, Joe Von Feldt, who owned and operated Hanneck’s, is also a a co-founder of Mile High Distillery, and it’s likely his focus now.
The way Coloradans pronounce ‘Buena Vista’ was a deliberate choice.
