Denver Broncos’ QB Bo Nix passing on the Pro Bowl to have surgery

The Bo Nix/John Elway comparisons have been happening more and more, and Nix had a chance to do something Elway never did… But had to decline.
The Broncos rookie quarterback was offered a spot in this week’s Pro Bowl Games after Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Buffalo’s Josh Allen dropped out and first alternate Patrick Mahomes advanced to his fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years.
Nix had to pass on the opportunity because of a previously scheduled medical procedure, a source confirmed. The source characterized the procedure as minor but did not specify what it was. It is scheduled for Wednesday, the day that Pro Bowl festivities begin. The “clean-up procedure” Nix will undergo is not related to the back issue.
Elway made nine Pro Bowls in his 16 year career, but did not make it in his rookie season, like Nix had the chance to do.
