Colorado State University is leaving the Mountain West Conference

Sep 12, 2024, 3:22 PM | Updated: 3:40 pm

It’s a big week for the Colorado State University Rams, and now it’s not just because they are playing Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes…

Today CSU announced they are leaving the Mountain West Conference and headed to the Pac-12 in 2026.

The Pac-12 is also adding Boise State, Fresno State and San Diego State, starting in 2026, to join Oregon State and Washington State in a rebuilt conference.

The Pac-12 and the departing schools will likely be on the hook for about $110 million in exit fees and penalties to the Mountain West.

This also leaves questions for the remaining schools in the Mountain West, like Air Force, which is in Colorado Springs.
