Colorado man busted after eating $800k worth of jewelry

News of someone stealing jewelry is not rare, sadly. News of someone steal, and then eating said jewelry is rather uncommon, thank goodness.

But that is what happened recently when a Colorado Springs man was arrested by Orlando Police Feb. 28 after stealing several pieces of jewelry and swallowing some before officers were able to detain him.

The man was charged with first-degree grand theft and robbery with a mask after posing as representation for an Orlando Magic basketball player at a Tiffany & Co. store in Florida.

At the store, employees led the to a private room, where he grabbed over $1.3 million in diamond jewelry and pushed through a store employee to leave. He was then pulled over by Florida Highway Patrol due to his car not having working rear lights, and resisted arrest while swallowing several items like two pairs of earrings worth $769,500.

Not sure if eating the jewelry is normal for this guy, but stealing certainly is… He is also facing 48 charges in Colorado, some of which stem from a 2022 theft of local jewelry store Legacy & Co. off East Fillmore Street where he stole up to $1 million. .

He is being held at the Orange County jail in Orlando, FL. with no bond.
