Colorado – Be a tourist in your own state!

Feb 3, 2024, 12:33 PM

It’s always easy when you’re visiting another city such as NYC, Miami, Vegas, etc to have fun doing all the typical touristy things you may do (or even stuff off the beaten path.) But often when you live somewhere for a long time, other than when you have guests come and visit, you forget about all of the things you can do in your home state whenever your want!  So get out and be a tourist in Colorado!

You don’t need friends or family to visit to have an excuse to take a free afternoon and go partake in all of the awesome places Colorado has to visit!  Here are few I recommend:

  • Take a trip to the mountains!  While this seems like an obvious one, I cant tell you how many times I talk to people and they talk about how its been so long that they’ve gone up to the mountains!  Whether its Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, each season has its own reasons to make a trip!  One quick trip I recommend is heading up to Kenosha Pass

  • Hit up a golf course!  I myself only played my first round of golf last year, but there are so many golf courses around the state with awesome views (or shoot, even an afternoon at Top Golf can be fun!)  I had a blast playing my first round up in Winter Park at Pole Creek Golf Club!
  • Go to Meow Wolf!  –  If you have not visited a Meow Wolf you definitely need to fix that!  While there are some great ones in Vegas and Santa Fe, the Convergence Station here in Denver is one of my favorites and the largest!  Its a fully immersive art experience that will definitely leave you wanting to come back!

  • Hit a Trail!  This might sound like another “Duh” one, but with there being so many great trails around Colorado, get away from the one thats right in your neighborhood and get and and explore!  Whether its some of the great trials near Deer Creek Valley, or the old “Summer White House” ruins over at Mount Falcon!  Get out and see everything Colorado has to offer!

  • Go to a Red Rocks Show!  Now look, you an go to Red Rocks for more than a concert such as just climbing the steps for a good work out or events like Yoga on the Rocks or Films on the Rocks, but one must do is going to a concert at this legendary venue. There’s a reason why its many artist’s venues to perform at, and if its’s been a while since you went you should fix that!  Need some concert ideas, click hereRed Rocks Colorado
  • Hit up one of the awesome Rail lines!  With great options such as the Georgetown Loop Railroad, the Royal Gorge Railroad, or even taking a train out of Union Station, a train is a great way to see a lot of Colorado’s great scenery in a short amount of time!

  • Cave of the Winds – Just a quick trip down south to Colorado Springs will bring a lot of cool tourist options such as the Pikes Peak Cogway or the Olympics Training Center, but one of my favorites is Cave of the Winds!  So much history is found here including their tour through the caves (which even in winter stay pretty mild)

  • Check out a museum or art exhibit!  There are several great museums around town  including the Denver Art Museum, Wings over the Rockies Air & Space Museum and Children’s museum.  On top of that there are always awesome exhibits around town, one of my favorites that pops up is the Van Gogh Experience!

  • Go to a sporting event!  Having lived in a city in the past with not a lot of teams, its hard to forget that we’ve got a team for practically every sport!  Football, baseball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse….we have it all!  Whether its Empower Field or Ball Arena or Coors Field….get out and enjoy a game!
