There was a time not long ago when everyone wanted to live in Colorado, but something has changed in a major way!
United Van Lines has just come out with their 49th Annual National Movers Study, shedding light on what motivates us to move and the most popular states people moved into in 2025, and Colorado is on the list of places people are leaving!
The study found that most people who moved in the U.S. this year did so to be closer to family (29%), for a new job or company transfer (26%) and for retirement (14%), and the state that had the most people move into it in 2025 was Oregon, moving it from number eight last year to number one for inbound moves this year.
There’s also a trend of people moving to smaller cities and towns outside major metro areas where housing is more affordable.
More people moved out of New Jersey than any other state this year, making it the top outbound state for the eighth consecutive year, but Colorado cracked the top five this year too.
