Happy 150th birthday, Colorado! Here’s how to celebrate Colorado Day this weekend

Today marks 150 years of Colorado, and all around the Denver metro area people are celebrating. From farmers markets to free museum admission to Colorado Day celebrations, we have your full list of fun events happening this weekend.

Officially proclaimed by President Ulysses S. Grant as the 38th U.S. state on Aug. 1, 1876, the city of Denver and the surrounding metro area have plenty of ways to celebrate a century and a half of statehood.

Denver area celebrations
Colorado Day at McGregor Square — Saturday, Aug. 1, from noon to 10 p.m. Free admission for all ages, featuring all-day live musical performances and family fun.

Colorado Day at Dairy Block — An all-day event featuring live music, Colorado-themed art, and your chance to support local Colorado businesses.

150th Colorado Day at the Capitol — Visit the state Capitol on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for speeches, Colorado history presentations, and more.

Mile Long Table 2026 — Starting at 5 p.m. at the National Western Center, gather with 5,280 people for a special community meal.

Colorado 150 Trivia — Finish your weekend at Punch Bowl Social for Colorado trivia night featuring prizes and a celebration of Colorado state pride.

Metro area celebrations
Free Day at the Museum of Boulder — All day Saturday, the Museum of Boulder is offering “pay what you wish” admission to learn about and celebrate Colorado history.

Shop Local! — Various Mercantile locations will be featuring specially curated gift baskets filled with more than $150 in Colorado-made products at locations in Centennial, Aspen Grove, and Southwest Plaza.

Farmers Markets — Various farmers markets around the metro area will be open this weekend with local vendors and Colorado-grown goods.
