Boulder County opens and closes King Soopers stores simultaneously

Another up-and-coming Front Range city, another King Soopers.
The supermarket chain, owned by Kroger, opened another store in Erie at 2900 Arapahoe Road, located at the intersection of Highway 287 and Arapahoe. Doors officially opened Wednesday at 8 a.m.
This isn’t the first King Soopers in the vicinity, though — there’s another one, about six miles away, situated off of Sheridan and Baseline. Another at Highway 287 and Baseline, less than two miles away from the new Nine Mile location (although technically in Lafayette), closed permanently on Tuesday afternoon.
As reported by the Colorado Hometown Weekly, Lafayette Communications Director Debbie Wilmot noted that although King Soopers maintains ownership of the Lafayette property, its future is yet to be determined.
The new store is a whopping 103,000 square feet, making it larger than the Baseline location, and features staples that will be no surprise to those familiar with other King Soopers stores: fresh sushi, Murray’s Cheese, Starbucks and a drive-up pharmacy. A gas station of the same name with 18 pumps will also be on the property.
To celebrate the new store’s grand opening, the first 200 customers were given free breakfast, while free samples and giveaways were situated around the store.
