If you’ve ever watched someone ask a dumb question and thought, “Here’s your sign,” you can thank Bill Engvall. This Saturday, you can thank him in person, and help Colorado kids while you’re there.
The Blue Collar Comedy Tour legend is bringing his “Here’s Your Sign – It Wasn’t My Time” show to the Bellco Theatre at the Colorado Convention Center on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the box office opens at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are still available through AXS and run from about $35 to $70. Keep the show’s title in mind: Engvall said goodbye to stand-up with a farewell tour a few years ago, and he clearly decided the stage wasn’t done with him.
The night is about more than laughs. The show is a benefit for the Zarlengo Foundation, a nonprofit based in Wheat Ridge that supports Denver-area students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. The foundation helps schools and programs built for kids who learn differently. It also runs the Zarlengo Foundation Learning Evaluation Center, which has offered evaluations for kids ages 4 to 21 across the Denver area since 2016. Buying a ticket helps make sure a kid who struggles to read gets the support they need.
Engvall is the guy who turned everyday stupidity into comedy gold. Together with Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Ron White, he made the Blue Collar Comedy Tour a staple of every family road trip in the 2000s. His style is clean, relatable and rooted in family life, which makes this a good night out with your parents, your spouse or the friend who still quotes “Here’s your sign” at every opportunity.
So grab your tickets, head downtown Saturday night and laugh for a good cause. And if anyone asks whether you’re going to the show while you’re already standing in the lobby, you know exactly what to say.
