Bill Nye the Science Guy is coming to Colorado in November

Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! If that theme song just started playing in your head, you’re in the right place. Bill Nye the Science Guy is coming to Colorado this fall.
Nye will speak Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at CU Boulder’s Macky Auditorium, 1595 Pleasant St. The night is part of the university’s Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series. Don’t expect exploding volcanoes, though. This one is a sit-down conversation with Stefanie Johnson, who directs CU Boulder’s Center for Leadership, teaches in the Leeds School of Business and wrote the bestseller “Inclusify.” They’ll take on one big question: How do we solve problems too big for any one person, or any one field of study, to handle?
If you grew up in the ’90s, Nye is basically the reason you know how the water cycle works. His Emmy-winning show had science teachers across the country wheeling in the TV cart, and he’s picked up plenty of honors since then, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. He’s also a New York Times bestselling author. For a generation of Coloradans, this is a chance to see their favorite substitute teacher in person.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. They’re $30 for the general public, $10 for CU faculty and staff and $5 for CU students. Five bucks is less than a latte on the Pearl Street Mall, so if you’re a Buff, you have no excuse.
