Big game hack: ripen avocados in 10 minutes

Ok, so you have a bunch of folks coming over the big game and you were set to make the guacamole dip that you have been bragging about to everyone, except you have one problem. Your avocados are not within the two hour window of when they’re actually good.

Well, there is something you can do about that to have soft, ready to use avocados in around 10 minutes. While this of course is not as good as just time where the avocados can sit in the a bowl in the sunlight, this will at least get you on your way to making that dip by game time this afternoon.

You can attempt to accelerate the ripening process of your avocado by utilizing the oven. This technique involves applying heat to the avocado to achieve a slight softening effect. Although it may not yield the most delectable and silky smooth avocado that we normally enjoy, it can serve as a quick fix when time is of the essence. Begin by preheating the oven to 200 degrees. Then, wrap the avocado securely in aluminum foil before placing it on a baking sheet. The duration required to soften the avocado will vary depending on its initial firmness, typically around ten minutes or potentially longer. Once the avocado has cooled down, transfer it to the refrigerator to ensure it becomes thoroughly chilled before consumption.

Then it is ready for that famous guacamole dip you have been raving about.
