Beginning on January 1st Walmart Will Discontinue Single-Use Bags at Colorado Stores

Dec 6, 2022, 5:23 PM

Single-use bags will be banned in Colorado altogether in 2024, but Walmart is going to take matters into their own hands a little early.

Beginning on January 1, 2023, Walmart stores in Colorado will no longer offer single-use plastic and paper bags to its customers.

According to Lauren Willis, the Director of Communications for Walmart in the Western US, bags will not be available at checkout or pick-up and delivery will shift to using paper bags only.

Although the news release did not mention what customers will put their items in after checkout, most stores offer multiuse bags for purchase, or you can bring your own.

The bill banning single-use plastic bags in Colorado allows for retail stores to use up their inventory of bags by June 2024, when the ban goes into effect.
