Baby Jesus stolen from Colorado nativity scene returned with apology

A baby Jesus figurine swiped from a nativity scene in Fort Collins, Colorado, made its way back home just in time for Christmas, along with a heartfelt apology note.

The community buzzed after police shared surveillance footage of the caper, and it seems the guilty party had a change of heart.

The figurine, which had been taken early Sunday (Dec. 15), was left at a local fire station on Thursday. Alongside the statue was a handwritten note that read: “I’m really sorry. I made a dumb mistake in the moment. It won’t happen again.”

The local business responsible for maintaining the nativity scene has decided not to pursue charges. With the figurine back in its rightful place, the focus has shifted to the spirit of forgiveness and the importance of community during the holiday season.
