A Colorado Avalanche Player Will Be on the Cover of the Biggest Hockey Video Game for the First Time Since 1998

Aug 14, 2023, 5:27 PM

The biggest hockey video game out there is EA Sports’ NHL franchise, and the cover of the game will feature a Colorado Avalanche player this year for the first time since the late 90’s!

Cale Makar has been selected for the cover of EA Sports’ NHL 24 video game.

The Avalanche defenseman reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter: “Couldn’t be more excited to be on the cover for #NHL24. Honored to have this opportunity.”

The cover features a Makar in his burgundy-and-blue game uniform, with snow spraying off his skates as he corrals a puck.

Makar is not the first Avalanche player to be featured on the cover of an NHL game. Peter Forsberg was the cover athlete for EA Sports’ NHL 98.

The latest EA Sports NHL game is expected to be released in early October. Makar, in his Twitter post, said more game details will be revealed on Wednesday.
