The Colorado Avalanche got new sweaters today, and they look a lot like the state they’re named for. On Monday morning, the Avs and every other NHL team unveiled their “Hometown Remix” jerseys. It’s a leaguewide special-edition collection from the NHL and Fanatics, and each team’s design is meant to celebrate the place it calls home. Colorado’s version doesn’t need much explaining.
The new sweater is mostly white, with different shades of blue and gray. On the front is the Colorado flag “C” logo, which the team has used as its primary crest before. The design also includes mountain-inspired details. In other words, it looks like a ski day at Loveland Pass that you can wear. One reviewer at The Hockey News pointed out that the white-and-blue look is very snowy for a state that “hasn’t exactly gotten a lot of snow lately.”
You’ll get to see the jerseys on the ice soon. The team will wear them six times this season. The first game is Saturday, Nov. 7, against the Detroit Red Wings at Ball Arena. For longtime fans, any Avs-Red Wings game brings back memories, so this is a good night to debut new uniforms.
Want one for yourself? The jerseys went on sale Monday, and early reports put the price at about $172.99. That’s a lot for a sweater, but it’s cheaper than a lift ticket, and you can wear it to every watch party through spring. If you’re shopping for an Avs fan, Christmas just got easier.
