Most hotels skip the 13th floor. Denver’s Curtis Hotel leans all the way into it. The downtown hotel is famous for its over-the-top themed floors, and for Halloween it’s giving guests a reason to sleep with the lights on.
The hotel’s “Clown Around & Find Out” package runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through Oct. 31. A stay includes:
- Two VIP tickets to the 13th Floor Haunted House, one of Denver’s best-known haunts
- Free parking
- Two spooky cocktails at The Corner Office, the hotel’s bar
- Gourmet popcorn and a stash of Halloween candy
- Late checkout at 2 p.m., if available
If luck is on your side (or very much not), you could get upgraded to the Big Top hyper-themed suite. The hotel promises it has been “transformed for a night of thrills and frights.” Its slogan: “Come for the clowns. Stay for the screams.” The fine print adds, “If you are easily frightened, kindly please do not book this room.” Consider yourself warned.
The Curtis’ 13th floor has been the hotel’s spooky floor for years, with horror-movie touches and nods to classic scary films. In 2023, set designers from the 13th Floor Haunted House turned one of its rooms into a full haunted-house set, complete with a literal skeleton in the closet and a monster under the bed. The hotel recently finished a top-to-bottom renovation with new themed floors and rooms, but the 13th floor still keeps its superstitious streak.
Stays must be booked by Oct. 31, so there’s still time to grab a room. Just know that if you hear giggling in the hallway at 2 a.m., it’s probably not your neighbors.
