Cavender’s Boot City opens fourth Colorado store at Colorado Mills

Your excuse for showing up to the Grizzly Rose in sneakers just ran out. Cavender’s Boot City, the Texas-born Western-wear chain, has opened its newest store at Colorado Mills in Lakewood. That puts boots, hats and pearl snaps a short drive from just about anywhere on the west side of the metro.
The store is big: 15,016 square feet of Western gear for men, women and kids. Expect racks of boots, hats, shirts, jeans, dresses, belts and workwear from brands like Ariat, Wrangler and Resistol, plus Cavender’s own lines, Rockin’ C, Rafter C and JRC & Sons. If your boots pinch or your hat looks like it lost a fight with a ceiling fan, the staff can help. The store offers boot fitting, boot stretching and hat shaping, so you can walk out looking like you were born on a ranch, even if you were born in Littleton.
Cavender’s has come a long way from its start. James and Pat Cavender opened a small Western store in Pittsburg, Texas, in 1965, and the family business has grown into one of the biggest names in boots. The Lakewood store is the chain’s fourth in Colorado. It follows a Westminster location at 9250 N. Sheridan Blvd. that opened in April.
The new store is at Colorado Mills, 14500 W. Colfax Ave. Shoppers can also join My Cavender’s, the company’s loyalty program, for early access to sales, special offers and event invites. With Stock Show season a few months away and plenty of concerts on the calendar, this is a good time to start breaking in a new pair of boots.
