Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ becomes longest-running No. 1 single in US chart history

And then there was only Ella Langley.

At 23 weeks, Ella Langley’s “Choosin Texas” has officially become the longes- running number one single on Billboard in US history.

Last week, Ella Langley tied Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” at 22 weeks. Despite Mariah Carey’s song being released all the way back in 1994, it only first became No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2019, and has since tacked another another 21 weeks to its current total.

Along the way, Ella Langley has knocked out some big records from their top spots, including Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” (16 weeks), Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” (16 weeks), Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” (16 weeks), Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” (19 weeks) and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song” (19 weeks).

This marks another strong moment for country music on the chart, which just earlier this year in August, the country format held all five of the slots of top five songs for the first time in Billboard’s history.
