Denver lawn watering ban in effect October 1

As Denver, and Colorado as a whole, faces historic drought and high temperatures, Denver Water has announced that a lawn watering ban will go into effect on October 1.

The record drought has resulted in low streamflows and reservoir storage requiring the Denver Board of Water Commissioners to end the lawn watering season on October 1.

After the October 1st shutdown, customers will still be able to water trees, shrubs and perennials with ah and held-held hose with a shutoff nozzle or low-volume non spray irrigation.

Denver Water customers may continue watering their lawn through September 30 with the current watering restriction rules during their two assigned days per week.

Current conditions are saying that Denver Water storage supplies could drop to 60% before the 2027 runoff season.
