These are the slang words Colorado is Googling the most in 2026

If you’ve overheard a teenager scream “SIX SEVEN!” while aggressively gesturing at nothing, congratulations, you’ve witnessed Colorado’s most-Googled slang word of 2026 in the wild. A new analysis of Google search data by Unscramblerer.com reveals the slang terms Americans are frantically typing into search bars trying to decode, and Colorado’s list is… a lot. The No. 1 term statewide, “6-7,” has no literal meaning. That’s the point. It comes from the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla and went viral after NBA player LaMelo Ball made a trending video about being 6-foot-7. It’s peak “brainrot” internet humor, and apparently Colorado can’t stop searching for it.

The rest of the state’s top 10 reads like a guide to every word your kid has used at the dinner table that made you quietly open Google under the table. “Chud” (a fool or troll) came in at No. 2, followed by “larping” (pretending to be something you’re not, basically a digital poser), “chopped” (ugly or rough-looking) and “unc” (anyone perceived as old or out of touch, which is probably what your teenager calls you behind your back). “Cap” landed at No. 7, meaning a lie or exaggeration, as in “no cap, I have no idea what any of these words mean” and “cooked” (being in a completely hopeless situation) rounds out the list at No. 10. Also present: “tea,” which means gossip, and has nothing to do with the beverage your grandmother drinks.

Colorado’s list largely mirrors the national rankings, where “6-7” also dominated with a staggering 1.6 million monthly searches. Nationally, “rizz” (charm or attractiveness), “gooning” (let’s just say it started as one thing and evolved into meaning you’re overly obsessed with something) and “sigma” (the lone wolf personality type every 14-year-old boy aspires to be) all cracked the top 10. “Mogging,” outclassing someone by being more attractive or successful, also made the national list, because apparently we now need a word for what Tom Brady does just by existing.

“Using slang is a social signal,” said Randoh Sallihall, a spokesperson for Unscramblerer.com. “What people search for can tell us something about what they are trying to understand and participate in culturally.” Research from the American Psychological Association backs this up, our language choices signal who we are, who we identify with and how we relate to others. So the next time a Colorado teenager tells you that your outfit is “chopped” and you’ve reached “unc status,” no cap just know they’re not being rude. They’re participating in cultural identity formation. You’re still allowed to take their phone away, though.
