Broncos to Open 2026 Season on Monday Night Football vs. Chiefs

May 12, 2026, 11:19 AM

With the 2026 NFL schedule rollout officially underway, Denver Broncos fans already have one date circled on the calendar. The Broncos will open the 2026 season on “Monday Night Football” against AFC West rival the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL season officially kicks off Sept. 9 with a game that has yet to be announced, followed by a historic international matchup in Melbourne, Australia, where the Los Angeles Rams will take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL’s first regular-season game on Australian soil.

Denver is no stranger to opening the season under the bright lights. Since 1998, the Broncos have appeared in nine season-opening editions of “Monday Night Football,” including the inaugural game at then-Invesco Field at Mile High against the New York Giants in 2001. Most recently, Denver opened the 2022 season on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

The full 2026 NFL schedule will officially be released Thursday, May 14. Here’s a look at the Broncos’ home and away opponents for the 2026 season:

Home: Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks

Away: Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers
