Denver Museum of Nature & Science offers free admission on April 26 for Día del Niño celebration

Apr 24, 2026, 4:52 PM

If you’ve got a family that likes to get out and explore Denver, here’s a great way to do it while saving a ton of money this weekend!

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science will open its doors free of charge Sunday as part of its 13th annual Día del Niño celebration, giving families across the metro area a no-cost chance to explore one of Colorado’s most popular cultural institutions.

The free day runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the museum, located at 2001 Colorado Blvd. in City Park. No tickets or reservations are needed for general admission, which includes access to the Wildlife Halls and permanent exhibitions.

The museum is partnering with the Mexican Cultural Center to mark Día del Niño — the Day of the Child — with special performances, live music and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Visitors will also receive free admission to the museum’s “Brick Planet” LEGO exhibition, which closes May 3, and 25% off admission to Gates Planetarium, Infinity Theater and the temporary exhibition “The World’s Largest Dinosaurs,” which explores the biology of sauropods and features a life-sized model of a 60-foot-long Mamenchisaurus.

The free day is funded by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, a voter-approved special taxing district in the seven-county Denver metro area that provides supplemental funding to more than 300 scientific and cultural organizations.

Sunday’s event is one of 12 free days and nights the museum offers in 2026 through the SCFD program. The next scheduled free day is June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

The Día del Niño celebration extends well beyond the museum. The Denver Art Museum, at 100 W. 14th Ave. Parkway, is hosting its 24th annual Día del Niño celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free general admission, live performances and artmaking activities. The Clyfford Still Museum, at 1250 Bannock St., is also offering free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Día del Niño program running from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
