Monster Energy Supercross returns to Denver on May 2 with championship on the line

Apr 22, 2026, 3:15 PM

The NFL of dirt bike racing is Monster Energy Supercross, and the sports best are coming back to Denver soon!

Monster Energy AMA Supercross returns to Empower Field at Mile High on May 2 for Round 16 of the 17-round championship, with one of the tightest title races in recent memory poised to reach its penultimate stop in the Mile High City.

The 450SX championship battle between points leader Hunter Lawrence and Ken Roczen is separated by a single point — 286 to 285 — heading into the final stretch of the season. Cooper Webb sits third with 264 points, followed by Colorado’s own Eli Tomac, the Cortez native, who is fourth with 255 points.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing beginning at 4:30 p.m. The evening program, billed as the “Gate Drop,” starts at 5 p.m. MDT. The event will feature 450SX and 250SX West class competition, along with KTM Junior Supercross.

Denver’s round marks the second-to-last race of the season before the series finale in Salt Lake City on May 9 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The 250SX West title has already been settled. Haiden Deegan clinched the division championship earlier in the season. But the premier 450SX class remains up for grabs, and Denver’s high altitude and tight stadium course could play a decisive role.

Denver has been a reliable late-season fixture for the series, hosting Round 16 in each of the past several seasons. Last year, Chase Sexton kept his title hopes alive with a dominant win at Empower Field, finishing nearly nine seconds ahead of Cooper Webb.

The event will be broadcast live on Peacock and SMX Video Pass, with an encore airing on NBC on May 3. SiriusXM will carry audio coverage.

Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster and at SupercrossLive.com. All fans age 2 and older are required to have a ticket. Parking lots open at 9:30 a.m.
