Deion Sanders’ daughter commits to Colorado State University Pueblo for final year of basketball

Apr 10, 2026, 4:18 PM

For the fans in Colorado that are over the Coach Prime experiment, this likely tells me his ties to the state run deep and probably isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Shelomi Sanders, the youngest child of Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders, announced Thursday (April 9) she will transfer to Colorado State University Pueblo to play women’s basketball, bringing her back to the Centennial State for her final year of college eligibility.

“Right place, right time,” Sanders wrote on Instagram to announce the move.

CSU Pueblo will be the fourth school for the guard since she began her college career in 2022. She started at Jackson State, where her father coached football, before following him to Colorado for the 2023-24 season. She then spent two years at Alabama A&M.

At Colorado, Sanders played in five games and averaged 1.8 minutes per contest on a team that reached the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. A hand injury slowed her start to that season.

At Alabama A&M, she saw more consistent playing time, appearing in 26 games in 2024-25 and averaging 1.2 points over 3.9 minutes. This past season, she made 15 appearances and averaged a career-high 5.9 minutes per game.

Deion Sanders, who accompanied his daughter on her official visit to Pueblo, tipped his hand before the official announcement.

“My babygirl’s going to be close to me,” Sanders told reporters Tuesday. “I’m happy she’s going to spend her last year of basketball in the state of Colorado, somewhere. I’m elated about that … She made a tremendous decision, I’m proud of her.”

CSU Pueblo is a Division II program that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The ThunderWolves finished 13-15 in 2025-26 under coach Tommie Johnson.

The move keeps Shelomi about 140 miles south of her father in Boulder. The ThunderWolves primarily play teams in Colorado, which will make it easier for Coach Prime to attend games.
