The Colorado Rockies have a .500 record for the first time since April 2023 and fans celebrated by taking their shirts off and going viral at Coors Field!
The mob of shirtless fans in the upper deck at Coors Field stole the show Wednesday afternoon (April 8) as the Colorado Rockies completed a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros.
What started as a couple of rows of bare-chested fans chanting “Take it off, take it off!” snowballed into a section of more than 100 shirtless spectators, recruiting new members throughout the game as the Rockies cruised to victory.
Videos and photos of the scene spread rapidly across social media, with clips shared by Jomboy Media, Bovada and fan accounts drawing millions of views.
The shirtless section was fueled by more than just enthusiasm. The Rockies swept the Astros to surge back to .500 at 6-6, winning four straight games — a feat the franchise had not accomplished since 2022.
The sweep capped a strong homestand that began with the home opener against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. Despite setting a non-pandemic single-game attendance low of 16,301 on Monday, the Rockies averaged more than 33,500 fans through their first four home games, up more than 3,000 per game from the same point last year.
The Rockies head to San Diego next for a four-game series against the Padres beginning Thursday (April 9).
