Maybe you or your kids have competed in a soapbox derby, but this is a soapbox derby on steroids! The Red Bull Soapbox Race is headed back to Denver for the first time in nearly two decades!
The race returns to Denver June 13th at Empower Field at Mile High.
Colorado hosted the first American race back in 2002 and last hosted the Soapbox Race in 2008 at Red Rocks.
Teams assemble homemade cars capable of handling a winding race track only powered by gravity. Each vehicle can be no bigger than six-feet wide by 12-feet long, and at least seven-inches above ground. Teams are judged on design, pre-race performance and showmanship.
Applications are available online until April 12. Up to 40 teams will make the cut, with each team comprising up to five people.
