Being a Swiftie has been a badge of honor for Taylor Swift fans over the year, and now their fandom can feel even more strong as the term “Swiftie” has officially been included in a dictionary!
One of the most used online dictionary websites, dictionary.com, has officially added “Swiftie” to its site, defining the word as: a fan of musician Taylor Swift. It is commonly used as a self-identifying term by Swift fans and by others to refer to Swift fans. Calling someone a Swiftie often implies that they are a very passionate and loyal fan—as opposed to just a casual listener.
The term was actually trademarked by Taylor Swift back in 2017.
Dictionary.com is constantly adding new words, just last year adding a record 1200 words including ‘superyacht’, ‘kiss cam’ and ‘coffee badging.”
